“Out of Breath”

I had the opportunity to record a performance by Duke’s Momentum Dance Company, and it turned out to be a really interesting challenge. The choreographer wanted no music; instead, the whole dance was synced to a series of carefully timed breaths. I recorded several performances from several angles and had the performers record the breath sequence separately, and then brought it all together. The performance was directed and choreographed by Angela Ji.
